DWeb Camp 2022

I'd like to engage the group in a discussion of the privacy, identity, and data storage and ownership implications of immersive, persistent digital environments; specifically, the metaverse. How will we log in and where will our data and preferences be retained? How will we navigate between environments and port over our identity and consent preferences? Will these preferences interoperate, or will be be stuck filling out forms, studying privacy menus, and ignoring the TOS just as we do in web2? To whom does interaction data belong, and who has rights over it? How will we protect sensitive metadata, even though this is not designated PII? What are the surveillance implications of biometrically informed interactions? What standards and rules need to be in place before the next scandal happens?
