In addition to introducing two projects people can get involved in, this talk will invite participants to rethink their assumptions about how power should flow in online spaces, and how to design interfaces accordingly. By exploring two experimental prototypes for online governance, CommunityRule and Modpol, this talk will pose questions about what kinds of assumptions we should integrate into tools for self-governing communities.
