How can art and cultural ecosystems contribute towards dweb’s evolution? What do dweb and the larger related technological space (e.g web3) stand to gain from art’s speculative world-building capabilities and on the other hand its dysfunctional economic set-up? This session offers a space to collectively imagine, discuss and map out the potential role(s) and possible contributions of art and cultural ecosystems towards dweb’s evolution, bringing to light existing bridges (e.g. DAOs as medium and the rise of digital asset economy) and creating napkin sketches for (hopefully) many potential others. We will also not shy away from the limitations of this framing and busting myths both about art’s revolutionary potential and virtues of decentralization. Possible kick-off areas for investigation include (participants will be encouraged to add theirs before we kick off): Test case for shifts towards a more decentralized way of organizing the field (redistribution of power?) with greater diversity of organizational models and missions at different scales Coordination of impact and standards at different scales Speculative socio-economic imaginaries (e.g. DAO world) v actual markets (NFTs)
